Graffiato

Sometimes life is unpredictable. There are things you would’ve never expected to happen. In this case– it is very exciting. None the less, I don’t think anyone could have predicated that all 3 of us sisters would be living under the same roof in Washington, DC.  One year ago we were about as far away from each other as you could imagine, Katie in Michigan, Steph in DC and me in Seattle. Now Katie has accepted an amazing new job and is getting ready to move to DC in just 2 weeks!! Stephanie and I, along with our roommate Hannah, are moving on to a bigger house so all 4 of us, plus Kola and Oliver, our amazing pups, will be living together. We are beyond excited, and lets just say, I am pretty sure between the 3 of us we will have one of the biggest cookbook collections in DC, not to mention an amazing array of kitchen utensils.

When Katie came for her interview we decided to celebrate by going to Graffiato, the Italian-inspired Restaurant owned by Top Chef contestant Mike Isabella. We were impressed from the beginning with the drink selections. Katie ordered a prosecco on Draft. I ordered La Vida Rosa, a perfect cocktail for me, not too sweet, tequilla, and had subtle hint of fresh smoky lime flavor.

I do not know how they make a sauce taste exactly like some the of best pepperoni you have ever tasted, but this is a must try in my opinion! Then the Broccolini, and Potato Gnocci with Pork Neck OMG just thinking about it now makes my mouth water.

The  scallops with kohlrabi, blood orange and radish were perfectly seared and the sweet tangy flavor from the blood orange along with the nice crunchy texture of the radish made for another great dish that we did not want to stop eating. IMG_1711

The night ended with a surprise cocktail provided by our server and a sundae with the seasonal gelato. It was decadent, silky smooth and a delicious way to end our very delicious meal. Overall, I can’t wait to go back!
